The Dev from the upcoming game Tera said there were looking into LG or EVE style RMT.

However, haven't heard a word from LG lately, no updates.. no interesting upcoming events.

You're under the impression LG only does P2P. They actually have a big deal with SOE to expand Station Cash (direct sony to player sales), and similar deals to handle the backend of station cash like systems for other games. They're just not doing the player to player part of future games.

Tune-

You are correct, I shouldn't say done. They will survive and still leave the legit P2P market without any reputable company to facilitate P2P in a meaningful way.

I have always said that companies are under some illusion that they can make almost any virtual item and people will buy it because it is there. While that is the case for a lot of items, it is the game behind it that makes people buy virtual good direct from the companies.

Problem is these companies don't understand the consumer. If they did they would realize there is a gold mine to be had buy offering direct company to player and both player to player. By offering player to player it further gives value to their C2P items.

Did you read the interview with the Tera producer? He is spot on, being a player for many years. He realizes you can't stop rmt but you can get the most from it for the company. That is why he mentioned Livegamer.

He further states how he is aware that most players don't love Direct virtual sales from the companies.

" There are many users who hate the thought of having game publishers sell gold and items for real-world money (primary markets), and we agree: it’s a bad idea."

Here is the link. Anyways, the guy sounds like he is in touch with what players want. What is going to happen in mmo's and the best way for their game to survive and benefit. ( The guy sounds extremely in touch and echo's evreything I have been thinking and saying about RMT since day one of ultima online )

Aside from the seemingly constant BG bugs you know what else is depressing pp sales?

I was talking to somebody, and they said they used to buy a ton of pp to gear up their characters. I asked why they stopped and they said because now they can just buy fully raid equipped characters for a lot cheaper. Then they told me their current main for example was already wearing gear that hadn't even been discovered on the server yet. I'd almost forgotten that SOE lets all other servers transfer in to us for free. If they'd had to buy it on our server instead of getting it from someone who simply dumped their character from another server it would have cost them a pretty penny in pp for something's first drop on the server.

The free server transfers are probably what keep the exchange servers alive. Realistically a lot of the servers could use to be merged, we just don't have that option.

Banadux are you saying that the other (regular) servers these toons are coming from have lost TONS of population since the last merge and are in bad shape?

Since the pvp merge not too long ago I doubt there is a huge difference, but over the past year and a half I played on Crushbone and then I played on Permafrost. Crushbone might have been a little too full and Permafrost was definitely a little too empty. It usually ranked in the middle of the list which goes from high to low pop so about 1/3 of the servers I would say are definitely low pop.

If you play on a low pop server you can either transfer to another low pop server for free, pay to transfer, or quit. Free merges would probably keep some people around that are otherwise trickling out of the game entirely. Some do trickle into Bazaar like my character did, but given more time and less need for money I'd roll a new main on a populated server again.

I quit again due to how the bazaar market always seems to go down, not up. Only worth playing when they give free subs. I can level up during then or buy toons to go back with and dump them when they start charging again, or when I don't have time to play. I have to be really, really, really bored to play though with again, the poor market.

It looks like the server merge is happening. It was definitely needed. Doesn't affect exchange servers though.

The server merging is EQ1, and EQ1 doesn't have exchange servers. I don't know they sent the email to us EQ2 players, but those server names and that link all say it's EQ1 having the mergers.
