Platinum was dipping down to 8.00.

Any plans for anything new for player to player?

Or was free realms that last thing we will see from livegamer for player to player? Right now there is very very little demand for anything. Need something new to play through livegamer.

Rather not go play some other game not secure through livegamer, however, EQ2 is almost dead, freerealms there was never any demand and vanguard was dead years ago.

Aside from the occasional whacky spike from me being offline for a day the general trend has been roughly $60k worth of transactions on Bazaar and $20k on Vox over a 30 day period. The price of plat might drop off, but the same amount of money is still being made for now.

Good point. So roughly 90k in transactions or 9k a month net? Wonder how the 9k breaks down as far as costs to maintain, salaries and hardware upkeep.

They need to get a company that realizes the potential of direct Microtransactions and then further give the player added value by allowing player to player.

Sadly, the microtransactions game companies are blowing SOE's profits out of the water on games like ROM. So they of course dont feel the need to switch their golden money making games and take a chance.

Then you have SOE that is a corporation and peopel go in to get paychecks and go home. They have no motivation to investigate the model of both player to player and direct sales. Also we can see from their track record that in game inflation and economy health is also at the bottom of their priorities.

Banadux you pointed out total sales has stayed even, although prices of plat has come down. Translation- In game prices rocket all values stay relatively unchanged, but new or returning players are hurt. That is why in real economics inflation and devaluation of a currency is generally a bad thing.

Stab: You hear we're getting a new producer? The new guy is coming from Gaia Online. A free to play MMO where players purchase their currency directly from the game company. David Georgeson is his name.

I just wonder if the announcement a few months ago about them wanting to expand Station Cash is connected to this new producer at all.

I didn't think about that. You could be right.

Still waiting for one company to get smart and offer direct virtual item sales and P2P. Actually, maybe it could be eq2 as the P2P is already live and if they expand direct I dont think they could/would take away p2p.

New interview with the producer went up at http://eq2.zam.com/story.html?story=22148

He appears to want to steer the game in a more casual direction. He stressed that somebody should be able to pick up the game and immediately have fun without having to work at grinding levels or getting coin.

"One of my focuses has been on trying to figure out ways for people to actually have just a tremendous amount of fun with very little investment in games, so that they keep wanting to come back to the game."

"I'm a big fan of microtransactions. As a player, I'm a fan of them. And the reason I'm a fan of them is if the content isn't good, then the developer doesn't make any money. If you look at it the right way you're not paying for pixels you're paying for entertainment."
